Russian Bay 2 days + kayaking with sea lions
Russian Bay is one of the most well-known bay, located on east coast of Kamchatka. It mesmerize by its beauty. Having a shape of deep fiord, it extends deep into the shores to 8 km. The depth of the bay let vessels big enough come into it. The bay is one of the best shelter from storm in these parts. Vessels were accumulated here during Second World War. Avacha Bay was a dense mine field that time. A pilot vessel brought vessels from Russian Bay to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Russian Bay used to be a frontier post for a long time. It was disbanded in 2011. There is an amazing lake above the bay, at the altitude of 600 m. Its water is unique; it contains a large amount of silver. Water providing post had been working here for a long time, and all the vessels coming replenished fresh water supplies. A special water composition let it keeps its gustatory qualities and freshness for a long time, and this factor has a primal value during the long sailing.
During the cruise, we will visit not only Russian Bay, but also the mountain lake. First acquaintance with kayaking will be held here as well.
At the entrance from Russian Bay, you can observe amazingly beautiful place – Kekurny cape, which represents multiple concentration of rocks and stacks showed over the water surface. This spot is a favorite place for rest for sea lions. We will have an opportunity to observe them from kayaks.
Then, our itinerary will lie south. We will move to another destination – Listvennichnaya Bay. It’s wider than Russian Bay is. There is a Pyramid cape at the entrance, which represents concentration stacks of different sizes, but mainly having a pyramid form, showed over the water surface.
There is a mystery cave in the cape, cut by water of Pacific Ocean for hundreds of years. If the water is calm, we will go through the cave by kayaks or motorboats.
A big homonymous lake is another attraction of Listvennichnaya Bay. It’s been a natural laboratory of research facility of fisheries and oceanography for many years. The scientists occupied with protection from poachers, fish farming and its study. This lake is separated from the ocean by a narrow sandbank. During our sailing, we will enter to the mouth of the river by motorboats, see the work of ichthyologist and walk along the shore. A large number of different size waterfalls go down from the altitude of steep shores at this place, and coastal forests are shelters for Steller’s sea eagles. You can observe a master of Kamchatka region – brown bear – here, foxes and other animals.
Tourists will be accommodated on oceanic sailing catamaran during the whole trip.
There are three double and two triple cabins, which have wardrobes and shelves for different stuff. They have a capacity of up to 12 passengers. There are lavatories and shower cabins in each floats of catamaran. To wash away salty water, you can also use the third shower cabin, which is in the back of the vessel.
A lounge, providing a great panorama view, located in the cabin of catamaran. It’s here, where galley located. There are comfortable seats for rest, reading and quiet contemplation on the deck.
The vessel is equipped with motors, and we can follow our itinerary even in the calm. If there is favorable wind, we will use the sail. A special guidance, concerning the work with sail equipment, will be provided for the tourists. Each participant will have an opportunity to play the role of navigator at will. There sea kayaks – one seat canoe - on the boats. Kayaking training will be held for all participants.
