Day 1. Meeting at the airport. A trip to Khalaktyrsky beach. A visit of restaurant with Korean cuisine. Main dish: seafood.
On flying up to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky you can see magnificent volcanoes. After walking down a boarding ramp, breathing unique Kamchatka air, you will go for getting your luggage. We hope that you will make a careful study of our recommendations about clothes for this trip. Our guide holding the KamchatkaLand sign will meet you at the airport.
The travelers who will arrive before 13:00 have an entire day and in order not to lose time after checking-in at the hotel we will go on a trip to the shore of the Pacific Ocean, to Khalaktyrsky beach. This is a perfect place to relax and to be inspired by ocean power after long flight. The beach is unique with sand composition where sand grains consist of the large amount of titanium magnetite ore. We will offer you to make an experiment: bring the magnet to the sand and you will see how many it attracts sand grains!
There is the equipped place near the shore – there are the visit-center and benches. In recent years surfing develops at a great rate in Kamchatka, so in spite of chilly weather you will see boys and girls with surfboards who are going to conquer the waves.
Next we will meet tourists who arrive after 13:00 and go on our gastronomic journey in Kamchatka. Today we will visit one of the oldest restaurant of Kamchatka peninsula, its name is KOREA HOUSE – the restaurant of Korean cuisine and the favorite place for many local people.
The restaurant is very popular among local people for many years. Cozy atmosphere will help you to immerse into the world of eastern culture. Main dish of this evening is national dish of seafood. Crabs and scallops, shrimps and mussels, turbot and vegetables is a kaleidoscope of hot dishes and snacks.
We will tell you about fist Korean settlers, about their roles in restoration of economy of the region for leisurely conversation. You will get known about philosophy principles which has root of Korean cuisine. This is the theory about two principles and 5 types of energy. Taking food a man will absorb all types of cosmic energies.
Day 2. A trip to Vilyuchinsky volcano with ascent to the waterfall. Main dish: venison.
The beautiful Vilyuchinsky volcano with its right form of the cone locates on opposite side of Avachinskaya bay. This volcano is visible from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city when you walk around the downtown of the city. Today we will go on a trip to its base.
The first significant stop will be at the Vilyuchinsky pass to where our vehicle will drive up along the twisting road. The stunning views over surroundings will open before you from this place and the most attentive tourists will see 7 the most famous summits.
Vilyuchinsky volcano in all its beauty will appear before us. This is an extinct stratovolcano with a height of 2175 meters above sea level. The slopes are cut with deep barrancos that radially go down from the summit to the terraces. You will enjoy the views of the volcano from the observation point, immersing in your own thoughts. There are benches and information stands everywhere.
After such long journey, we won’t stand apart! We will drive down to the base of the volcano and from there we will start our ascent along the slope to the waterfall. This is not difficult climbing. At first the path lies along the the bushes of alder elfin woods, further along the stones and snowfields of the northwest slope.
The Vilyuchinsky waterfall will appear before you. It falls down from the top of range with a height of 50 meters to the precipice created by snowfield.
After enjoying the views of primordial Kamchatka we will go on our journey to San-Marino restaurant, its excellent cuisine include the dishes of natural products.
Main dish of this evening: venison. There will be hot and juicy steaks with pine nuts and cranberry-caramel sauce, tasty pastes and aspic, mushroom and fern julienne and venison ratatouille.
We will tell you about reindeer breeding in Kamchatka. You will get known about their roles in aboriginal people’s way of life, such as Itelmens, Evens, Aleutians, Auinus as well as Koryaks. Having acquired the contemporary presentation and form, venison dishes have not lost their primitive energy and unique taste.
Day 3. The rafting trip along the Bystraya river. Main dish: salmon and caviar
The bus will transfer us to the place where the rafting trip starts. The way is short and it takes about 2 hours to reach this place. The rafts are prepared. The experienced guides ruling the rafts along the entire route not only successfully will do their duties but with enthusiasm tell you several stories about Kamchatka.
The Bystraya river rafting is not a sport activity. In this trip you will just enjoy nature surrounded you and during having stops you will have a chance to try to catch a fish. Salmons, such as chinook, blueback salmon, chum salmon hunchback salmon, silver salmon and local trout can be caught in our rivers. And how delicious is grayling which is the clearest fish in Kamchatka and which can be eaten raw but it must be preliminary pickled in souse!
On the main stop you will taste the real Kamchatka fish soup that will be cooked of the fishes caught by you, roast it on fire or bake it in the nettle leaves. A guide will hold a master-class on cooking “5-minute” caviar.
Our neighbors can be bears who a real lover of fishing. On the rafting trip you will be able to see them on the bank of the river.
After our day activity we will continue to acquaintance with Kamchatka cuisine at DA VINCI restaurant. To your attention today we will offer you the delicious dishes cooked of salmon with Kamchatka herbal. Salmon can be named as national heritage of Kamchatka and our story will be about this fish.
Day 4. A trip to the Vachkazhets mountain range with a visit of its waterfalls. Main dish: juicy meat.
On the fourth day we will go on the trip to the old Vachkazhets mountain. The area is interesting with its unique and beautiful fauna, small waterfalls, rivers and lakes. The vehicle will transfer us to the border of the Park and we will start our trip to the Takhtoloch lake located near the base of the mountain. This lake looks like the heart from the bird’s eye view. It’s true; this is a real attractive center, the heart of the area.
Going up higher we will reach the most wonderful waterfall in the area. It drops merrily and noisily into a small hollow. The road will lead us to the circus of the mountain range. We walk around the area, admire and take photos of these views. While returning along another road we will be able to see a couple of small cascade waterfalls.
On the way back we will have a stop at the restaurant where we will be able to taste juicy meat cooked on fire in according with old Kamchatka recipes.
Day 5. A boat trip from Avachinskaya bay to Starichkov island. Main dish: Japanese cuisine, seafood.
After getting up early and having a breakfast we will be transfered to the seaport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city. Taking a boat we will begin our excursion around Avachinskay bay. You will be able to perceive Kamchatka in a new way from the shipboard. The sheer cliffs lead to the edge of the shore, fishing and military vessels are in the roads, and we will be accompanied with loud seagulls and albatrosses’ yells.
A guide will tell us about the historical events of Avachasky bay, for example, how the city was settled, and hewon’t forget to tell you about the heroic defense from an Anglo-French fleet. We will have a short stop near the Tri Brata (Three Brothers) Rocks which are named as the card of Avachinsky Bay. Next we will pass by Devil’s Finger rock which is sticking ominously out of the water, and finally, we will go out of the “gate” into Avachinsky bay.
The boat will go slowly along the shore, revealing new views and then, after some time we will reach the goal of our excursion - Starichkov Island. Being at anchor we will be able to catch fish using the simple tackles there, but at the same time the guide-diver will catch for us sea treasures - urchins. This is a real and unique delicacy. Adding to the urchin caviar sauce we will eat it raw, and so that we will be able to feel real taste we also offer you eat it without any sauces! The guide will tell you about difference between Kamchatka crab and opilio crab that is in less demand.
Starichkov Island is the protected area where seabird nests in a great number: there are more than ten thousands. These are cormorants, seagulls, murrelets and a lot of other ones. Their yells can be heard in the whole area. The debarkation is prohibited there because the island is declared as the protected area not to disturb life process of bird nesting. Seals often have a rest on the cliffs besides birds. They are calm to tourists, probably, they have already got accustomed. We also won’t worry them. After exploring the island we will be on the way back to the city.
We will continue our food tour in Kioto Japanese restaurant. There will be sashimi cooked of salmon and tunny, eel and crab. We will taste sushi of grouper and turbot. Crab julienne will not leave anyone indifferent, and rolls of prepare scallops and tunny will just melt in your mouth.
We will tell you how closely history, economy of two countries interwove on the territory of Kamchatka since the times of settlers to this date. We will speak about philosophy principles of Japanese cuisine.
Day 6. Acquaintance with native peoples. Main dish: cuisine of peoples’ of North Kamchatka.
We will go a trip to Snow Dog nursery to acquaintance with life and ceremonies of native smaller peoples in Kamchatka. Our tour includes a visit Andrey and Anastasiia Semashkin’s nursery of sled dogs. They are repeated winners of Beringia race. Everyone will be able independently to cope with famous dogsleds.
Representatives of local peoples will tell you about history, customs, their way of life and modernity. There will be live conversation where everyone will be able to ask any questions. A professional creative team with their programs of ethnic songs and dances will hold a performance for us in the yaranga.
The delicious lunch cooked of ethnic dishes and prepared by local masters will be waiting for us in the comfortable yurta.
Day 7. Transfer to the airport with a visit of the fish market.
Before leaving Kamchatka we will visit the fish market where you will be able to choose presents for your friends in according with knowledge you got on our trip. Our guide will unobtrusively help you to choose the freshest products.
On our way to the airport will have a stop near the monument "Russia begins here".
