In winter, the coast of Avacha Bay is bound by ice, but the water does not freeze completely, the sea steams with mist, and volcanoes rise on the horizon. We will travel in sleds pulled by snowmobiles along the shoreline, see the legendary Three Brothers cliffs, and reach Cape Mayachny — one of the most spectacular high vantage points overlooking the bay.

Price for 1 person:

A snowmobile excursion to Cape Mayachny is a popular winter tour in Kamchatka for those who want to see Avacha Bay and the Pacific Ocean framed in snow. The route starts in Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky and includes a trip in sleds towed by snowmobiles along the coast, with stops at viewpoints overlooking the Three Brothers cliffs and the ocean. The excursion is suitable for travelers with no snowmobile driving experience: guests sit in sleds, while the machines are operated by professional driver‑guides.

Part 1

Avacha Bay coastline, Three Brothers cliffs

In the morning, the group meets in Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky, usually near the Petropavlovsk Hotel. After meeting the guide and checking the gear, we get into the minibus and drive towards the village of Zavoyko — the ride takes about 60 minutes on average.

Guests take their seats in comfortable sleds that are attached to the snowmobiles. Before departure, the instructor once again reminds everyone of the rules: how to sit in the sled, how to hold on, and what not to do while moving.

We then start our journey along the coast of Avacha Bay. The route allows us to come close to the shoreline: in safe sections we approach the water itself, where you can run from the waves along the beach, look at the ice, and see traces of the tides.

Along the way we make stops at viewpoints, where you can get out of the sleds and take memorable photos. One of the key stops is the “Three Brothers” viewpoint with a lovers’ bench. In clear weather you can see the ocean waves and snow‑covered volcano peaks very well from here.

Part 2

Journey to Cape Mayachny and walk at the cape

We continue our trip along the coast towards Cape Mayachny. The route becomes more open here, with fewer trees and less shelter from the wind. This is where you can most fully feel the breath of the Pacific Ocean.

Upon arrival at Cape Mayachny, we get out of the sleds and set off on a short walk to the most scenic spots. From here you have some of the best views of Avacha Bay, its entrance, the Three Brothers cliffs, and the endless ocean. In clear weather, Vilyuchinsky Volcano can be seen on the opposite shore.

We will have enough time to watch the changing light, listen to the sound of the waves, take panoramic photos, and experience real winter Kamchatka away from city hustle. Depending on conditions, a short walk along the edge of the cliffs on a safe section is possible, as well as a photo session with the lighthouse, cliffs, and ocean as a backdrop. A light snack and hot tea are provided to help you warm up and enjoy your time on this windy cape in comfort.

Part 3

End of the excursion and return to the city

After walking around Cape Mayachny and taking photos, we return to the sleds. Participants take their seats again, gear and attachments are checked, and then the group sets off on the way back along the already familiar route. On the way, we can once more make short stops for photos or simply enjoy the sunset views over Avacha Bay, if time permits.

Upon arrival in the village of Zavoyko, we change clothes, return the issued equipment, and get back into the minibus. The transfer takes the group back to Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky to the starting point.

The total duration of the trip is usually between 5 and 7 hours, depending on weather conditions and the group’s pace.
