This programme is designed for an easy and leisurely introduction to snowy Kamchatka - with outdoor walks, but without physical activity. We will do a lot of snowmobile riding and swimming in wild hot springs. We will show you an active volcano and the harsh Pacific Ocean, tell you about the history, culture and nature of the peninsula and how to choose the most delicious caviar. In the evenings you will return to the hotel ruddy from the frost and relax before bed in the thermal pools.

The itinerary is easy and suitable for tourists of any age and physical condition. We don't include any serious climbing or long hikes. But by the end of the tour you will already know Kamchatka from different sides.

  • Day 1

Meeting. Accommodation in Spa Hotel Laguna 4*

Your flight will arrive at the airport «Yelizovo», which is located near the town of the same name. It is about 40 kilometres from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. We will meet you, get acquainted and immediately go to the recreation centre. The road to it will take no more than an hour. On the way, still at the airport, we will stop at the monument «Here Russia begins» for the first photo of the tour with a view of our «domestic» volcanoes.

Spa Hotel «Laguna» 4* is located in the resort area of Paratunka. This is a wooded valley of the river of the same name, famous for hot mineral springs. There are many hotels and recreation centres here, but «Laguna» is located far away from them on the shore of a picturesque lake overlooking the volcanoes.

Twin rooms are available for you to rest and sleep after a long flight, and you can recover in the healing hot water - there are several outdoor thermal pools on site.

  • Day 2

    Snowmobile trip to Lighthouse Cape

In the morning we will pick you up and together we will set off to the Pacific coast via Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The car journey takes about an hour. In the village of Zavoyko we will get on snowmobiles and sledges and start riding.

The snowmobile route to the ocean runs along the shore of Avacha Bay, one of the largest in the world. The road here leads up the wooded slopes of the hills and down to the water. In total, we will travel about 12 kilometres one way.

The first stop will be at the observation platform overlooking the Three Brothers rocks, the symbol of the city. These are large pillar-shaped rocks that stand at the entrance to Avacha Bay and seem to guard the peace of Petropavlovsk citizens.

We will climb higher and higher on snowmobiles and at the end of the journey we will end up on top of Lighthouse Cape, which separates the bay from the ocean. The 200-metre high peak offers a picturesque view of the harsh ocean itself and the rocky eastern shores of the peninsula. The striped Petropavlovsk Lighthouse also stands here - it has been preserved since 1897 and is still in operation.

After viewing the panoramic views, we get on snowmobiles again and descend to the gentle shore of the bay. In winter it does not freeze, but in some places the water forms bizarre icy figures. Here we will have a snack, drink hot tea and listen to the sound of waves.

After a rest, we will get on snowmobiles again and head back the same way. By evening you will already be at the hotel.

  • Day 3

Overflight over Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes or Free day

We leave this day spare, it's up to you what you want to do with it. You can devote the time to a relaxing holiday. In addition to the thermal pools, another relaxation area will be opened in Laguna this winter: it will have a steam room and a font.

You can enjoy winter activities: there is a skating rink and a tubing slide on the territory of the base. And we advise you to spend a cosy evening by the campfire or cook something on the barbecue area.

We also offer a helicopter trip to see the Southern group of volcanoes (Gorely and Mutnovsky) from a bird's eye view. During the excursion we will not only fly around the volcanoes from several sides, but also walk along the shore of the hot lake in the Caldera of Ksudach volcano. At the end of the programme - bathing in wild hot springs at the foot of Khodutka volcano. The excursion is organised in a group or individually.

Fans of snowy slopes can spend a day at the ski base - Moroznaya Mountain, rent skis or snowboards and feel the real Kamchatka drive.

  • Day 4

    Bathing in thermal pools

Malkinskie springs are located about 130 kilometres from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, in a picturesque river valley surrounded by hills and a forest of stone birches. It is believed that at the end of the XVIII century Charles Clark, a member of Captain Cook's expedition, took baths in them. Here you can compare the familiar hotel pools with the wild baths and have a contrasting bath. To fully relax, it is better to spend a whole day at Malkinskie springs.

We will leave as usual in the morning after breakfast. The road to the springs will take a couple of hours. On the way we will stop for a snack in Sokoch village - the ‘pie capital’ of Kamchatka. Here potatoes are added to the dough, and the pies themselves are moulded large, the size of a man's palm. On the peninsula they are called Sokocha pies, and in other regions they are called Kamchatka pies.

The Malkinskie springs have several shallow but large natural baths with a diameter of about 5-6 metres. Thermal springs gush underwater directly from the pebble ground. The temperature in them is different, in some places it reaches 84 °C at the outlets, and an icy mountain river flows nearby. If your health permits, you can take a dip in it after bathing in the thermae and then warm yourself again in the hot water. It is pleasant to relax here with a river boulder under your head and admire the frost-white trees.

The water of the Malkinskie springs is saturated with minerals and is classified as therapeutic. Back in the early 19th century, a balneological hospital was opened here, and now there is a sanatorium-preventorium and a recreation centre in Malki. Bathing in the local thermal water is used for osteochondrosis, problems with the nervous system.

There are paths between the baths on the thermal site, changing rooms, gazebos, toilets, and barbecue areas. There is a café at the spring recreation centre, where you can order lunch.

After resting in the healing baths, we will pack up and set off on the way back. In a couple of hours we will already be in Paratunka.

  • Day 5

    Snowmobile trip to Avacha volcano

This day we will focus on getting to know volcanoes. There are several hundred of them in Kamchatka, and it is difficult to determine the exact number. Two rather large ones - Avachinsky and Koryaksky - are located very close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. For such neighbourhood they are called ‘’domestic‘’ here. Both volcanoes are active and periodically remind about themselves. The Kamchatsky volcano last erupted in 2009, while the Avacha volcano almost always smokes fumaroles.

We will head to a pass about 1000 metres high that connects these giants to each other. Here you can ride through snowy landscapes and see panoramic views.

The length of the route from the recreation centre in Paratunka to Avacha Pass is about 55 km. We will drive part of this route by car, and closer to the volcanoes we will get back on snowmobiles and sledges and start riding. At first, the road will lead through a low coniferous forest, and then gradually ascend to open terrain.

At the top of the pass we will find ourselves on the snow-white expanse, a bit alien, between two active volcanoes. Koryaksky (3456 m) is the largest of all volcanoes in the vicinity of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Only experienced climbers with special equipment climb to its summit. Avachinsky is a little smaller in height (2741 m), it is easily recognisable by its unusual structure: the modern cone grew on the base of an older and larger volcano, the top of which was blown off by an explosion thousands of years ago. This ‘volcano within a volcano’ shape is called Somma-Vesuvius.

There is a small mountain 200 m high on the pass, which appeared during the eruption of one of its neighbours. This extrusion has two peaks, which is why it was given the name Camel. It seems tiny compared to the volcanoes, but its ‘humps’ offer a much more impressive panoramic view than just from the pass. We will go up on snowmobiles as high as possible on its slopes, with only about 100 metres to go on foot. After overcoming them, you can get an even better view of Avachinsky and Koryaksky volcanoes, see the panorama of the town, the bay and Vilyuchinsky volcano on its other side.

After descending from Mount Camel we will have a snack and warm up with hot tea. Then we will return by snowmobiles to the car and transfer to the hotel by the same route.

  • Day 6

    City tour around Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

The last full day of the tour we will focus on getting acquainted with Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. On the sightseeing tour you will see the central square, the city embankment, the hill with ancient birch trees, which have been there since Bering and La Perouse. We will tell you how a small port settlement grew into the capital of the region, how Petropavlovsk citizens heroically defended themselves against the powerful Anglo-French fleet and participated in the Great Patriotic War.

For picturesque landscape shots we will go to Petrovskaya Sopka. It is a hill that is located in the very centre of the city. You can drive up to it by car, and at the top you can see a panorama from a height of 248 metres - about as high as the 80th floor of a skyscraper. You will see the main square, the harbour, Avacha Bay and the slender Vilyuchinsky volcano next to our Paratunka.

At the end of the day we will go shopping. At the large fish market you can choose Kamchatka delicacies for yourself and gifts for your relatives. There are several varieties of caviar, crabs, scallops, octopus, squid and dozens of differently processed fish. It is better to try all the caviar before buying it - the sellers have disposable spoons for this purpose. If necessary, we will help you with the choice.

The souvenir shop sells products with local flavour: bone and wood figurines, leather and fur accessories in ethnic style, paintings depicting volcanoes. There are also traditional tourist trinkets: magnets, mugs, T-shirts.

In the evening we will say goodbye to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and return to the hotel in Paratunka.

  • Day 7

    Transfer to the airport

After breakfast and packing we will transfer you from the holiday resort to the airport. On the way we will stop at the monument «Here Russia Begins» for a final photo to remember your winter adventure in Kamchatka.
