From October to December, Kamchatka becomes quieter: the main tourist flow subsides, and the landscapes shift from bright autumn to real winter. This is a particularly comfortable time to visit for those who want to get to know the region at a relaxed pace and are not planning any demanding climbs. This 7‑day tour to Kamchatka is designed exactly for this format of holiday: you stay in a spa hotel, and we’ve included all major transfers and excursions in the program, so the trip is also ideal as a first “reconnaissance” of the land of volcanoes.

Day 1

Airport pick‑up. Check‑in at the spa hotel

After your arrival at Yelizovo Airport, our guide will meet you with a “Kamchatkaland” sign. Depending on the arrival time, we will arrange a group transfer to the resort village of Paratunka, famous for its hot springs.

You will check into a comfortable 4* spa hotel. This is the perfect time to rest after the flight, walk around the grounds, have dinner, and, if you wish, relax in the thermal water pool.

Day 2

ip to Vilyuchinsky Pass and Dachnye Hot Springs

After breakfast, we leave the inhabited areas for almost the whole day. In specially prepared off‑road vehicles, we drive up towards the Vilyuchinsky Pass. Along the way, views of the hills and volcanic cones gradually open up. Near the pass we take an unhurried walk without any serious ascents: we look around the area, take photos of Vilyuchinsky Volcano and the surrounding mountains, and enjoy the mood of Kamchatka’s autumn or already beginning winter — depending on the weather and tour dates.

Next, the route leads to the area of the Dachnye Hot Springs — a compact zone of active geothermal activity. Here you can see live fumaroles, plumes of steam rising from the ground, and small mud “pots” with bubbling water. Due to the high ground temperature, snow hardly settles here, and the slopes in places take on yellow and orange hues from sulfur and other minerals. We will walk along an equipped trail to safely observe these natural features and take photos. Lunch is organized as a field snack: lunch boxes and hot tea. By evening, we return to the spa hotel.

Day 3

«Snow Dogs» kennel and relaxation at the «Ozerki» thermal complex

We devote the morning to getting acquainted with Kamchatka sled dogs. After breakfast, we head to the “Snow Dogs” kennel, which has been developed for many years by the Semashkin family — professional mushers and participants of the Kamchatka race “Beringia”. During the tour, they explain how teams are formed, what qualities are important for lead dogs, what they are fed, and how they are kept in shape outside the winter season. Guests can interact with the dogs, take photos, and ask questions to the kennel owners, getting a feel for the atmosphere of northern expeditions.

After visiting the enclosures, the program continues with a small performance: representatives of the indigenous peoples of Kamchatka share stories about their traditional way of life, rituals, and beliefs, show elements of national dances, and demonstrate traditional costumes. Lunch with dishes of local cuisine is served here as well, further enriching your understanding of the region’s culture.

In the afternoon, we drive to the area of the “Ozerki” thermal complex. These are natural open‑air pools with water of different temperatures: from pleasantly warm to almost scalding. You can choose a comfortable pool or alternate between several ones. There is also a small cold lake nearby — the bravest sometimes take a short dip and then immediately return to warm up in the hot water. The water has a characteristic “mineral” smell associated with the volcanic origin of the springs. During the cooler months, it is especially pleasant to sit in the warm pool while autumn is already around you and the air is quite crisp. By evening, we return to the hotel; there is time left for dinner and rest at your own pace.

Day 4

The city of Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky and trip to Khalaktyrsky Beach

After breakfast, we head towards Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky. The city is located by the sea, surrounded by hills and volcanic peaks. On the way, the guide will talk about how the first port appeared here, which expeditions entered the bay, how the coastal defenses developed, and what the city’s life is like today.

Once there, we go up to a viewpoint in the city center. From here you can see Avacha Bay, the port area, and the ships moored at the docks. In clear weather, you can make out Vilyuchinsky Volcano on the opposite side of the bay. Accompanied by a guide, we will walk along the main street and make several stops to calmly take in the panorama, take photos, and talk about what it’s like to live in a seaside city with a long winter and great remoteness from the mainland.

In the afternoon, we drive to Khalaktyrsky Beach. On the way, the scenery changes: the city gradually disappears behind us, patches of forest and more open spaces appear. The beach is a wide strip of shore with black volcanic sand. The water here is cold; in windy weather, the waves are strong and you can hear the powerful roar of the Pacific Ocean.

On the shore, we will have enough time to walk and listen to the sound of the waves. The guide will explain how this black sand is formed and talk about the local climate. In autumn and early winter, the landscape can change dramatically: clouds move in, the wind picks up, and the light shifts — creating a very striking atmosphere. By evening, we return to Paratunka.

Day 5

Avacha Pass: getting to know the volcanoes without difficult trekking

After breakfast, we head to the Avacha Pass. By transport we will gradually gain elevation and see how the surrounding landscape changes: from sparse forest to rocky scree. Part of the way we will drive along a dry riverbed. On the way, the guide talks about the local volcanoes, explains which of them are considered active and which have already “fallen asleep”, and recalls notable eruptions of the past.

At the pass we will be surrounded by mountain peaks — Avacha Volcano rises on the right, and Koryaksky Volcano on the left. The excursion does not require a long ascent; we will take a short hike towards Camel Mountain: the viewpoints along the way will give you a sense of the scale of these volcanic giants. We walk at a relaxed pace, stopping for rest and taking photos.

Along the way you may see sections of old lava flows, volcanic bombs scattered here and there, and fields of solidified slag. On a clear day, the pass offers views of the coastline and Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky itself. In late autumn and early winter, this is complemented by the contrast of snowy patches and dark rock. In the warmer season, you can often spot Eurasian ground squirrels here — local “gophers” that sometimes come quite close.

Lunch is planned in a warm cafeteria at the foot of Avacha Volcano. Here you can enjoy a hot meal in comfort, warm up after the excursion, and share your impressions of the walk. By evening, we return to Paratunka.

Day 6

Relaxation day or optional excursions

This day is left unscheduled so that each participant can choose a preferred format of rest. You can stay at the spa hotel, use the thermal water pools, take a walk around Paratunka, or book an additional excursion.

Day 7

Transfer to the airport with a stop at the fish market in Yelizovo

After breakfast, we drive towards the airport. On the way, we stop at the fish market in Yelizovo — this is a convenient opportunity to buy Kamchatka delicacies: red fish, caviar, crab, and other seafood in vacuum packaging suitable for transport.

After that, we continue the transfer to the airport in time for your flight. We say goodbye to Kamchatka, but are always happy to see you again on our other routes across the peninsula.

What is the difficulty level of the autumn tour to Kamchatka?

The tour is designed for regular travelers without special training, from 8 to 68 years old. Walks are conducted at a moderate pace, with no difficult trekking or long ascents into the mountains. It is suitable for people with a basic level of physical activity and for families with teenagers.

When is it better to go on an autumn tour to Kamchatka: in September, October, or November?

At the beginning of autumn, there is more autumn foliage and milder weather; by late October and November, the first snow may appear, creating more contrasting landscapes. In September, it is still possible to take sea trips and go out into the ocean; after that, navigation is closed. In December, the excursion to the Avacha Pass will be carried out either by jeep or in sleds pulled by a snowmobile, if there is already a lot of snow.

What clothes and gear are needed for an autumn trip to Kamchatka?

It is important to have a warm windproof and waterproof jacket, comfortable footwear for walking on uneven terrain, a hat, gloves, and thermal underwear appropriate for the season. The weather in autumn is changeable, so we recommend dressing in layers.

Is the autumn tour to Kamchatka suitable for children and elderly travelers?

Yes, the itinerary does not include strenuous ascents or long hikes. However, overall health and readiness for changeable weather are important. If you are traveling with children or older relatives, please let us know their age and any special considerations — we will advise how comfortable the trip will be for them.

Is it possible to join an autumn tour to Kamchatka as a solo traveler?

In the low season, we accept bookings for tours starting from 2 people. If there are already other participants registered for the chosen dates, it is possible to come alone with an extra fee for single accommodation.

How is the autumn tour to Kamchatka different from the summer one?

In autumn, there are fewer tourists, the landscapes turn bright with fall colors or are covered with the first snow, and the weather becomes noticeably cooler. The routes are more tranquil and intimate, without the summer crowds at popular locations. It is a great time to see the volcanoes and the ocean without large numbers of people.
