How tours are organized in Kamchatka in autumn
The velvet season comes in the autumn on the peninsula. At this time tours and flights are cheaper than in summer, and the nature only gets better. Slopes are covered with motley carpets, smells of mushrooms and wild berries, rivers are full of fish, and fresh snow is already lying in the mountains. And no insects! This is a great season for contemplative vacations, fishing and photo tours. It lasts the whole September and touches the beginning of October. After that it gets seriously colder, and in November there are almost no excursions.
Weather
Autumn in Kamchatka is as changeable as any other time of the year. In early September it is still comfortable in summer, warmth returns periodically, quiet and clear weather is established. Average temperature is from 5-10 °С, sometimes it can reach 15 °С. But every day it gets cooler and cooler, and by October the temperature already drops below zero.
What to see and do
Kamchatka in September is good with colorful landscapes and quite comfortable weather. Helicopter tours continue in this season, so you can visit the Valley of Geysers and other inaccessible points of the peninsula. Hiking with tents is already more difficult, but day trips to nature or a tour with an overnight stay in cabins - the very thing for autumn travel. What exactly can they include?
Trips to nearby volcanoes. Although some peaks can no longer be climbed due to snow, the easy-to-climb Mutnovsky and Gorely peaks remain accessible almost all year round. Here you can observe volcanic activity, see crater lakes and smoking fumaroles.
Walking through the valleys. In the autumn, they delight with red and yellow landscapes, wild berries, and the opportunity to observe animals.
Boat trips. You can go on a one-day excursion around Avacha Bay with access to the Pacific Ocean, get to a small island inhabited by sea birds, see the symbol of the city - pillar-shaped rocks Three Brothers.
A trip to the coast. The best place to admire the ocean and relax to the sound of waves is on the famous Khalaktyrsky beach with black volcanic sand. And if you want to see panoramic views and an ancient lighthouse, go to Mayachny Cape.
Vacation in hot springs. You can finish almost any excursion by bathing in healing thermal water - springs are located all over Kamchatka and it is easy to get to them.
A trip to Dachnye Springs. This is a zone of thermal activity, also called the Little Valley of Geysers: here mud pots bubble, mineral water outlets boil, fumarolic steam rises everywhere.
Rafting and fishing on the Bystraya River. To immerse yourself in the wilderness, you can go to remote quiet river backwaters and go fishing. In the autumn, coho salmon, a type of salmon, bites perfectly here. However, if you are traveling with local guides, you don't need any rafting experience at all - for example, on our tours, the guides are in charge of the boat's movement and the participants can simply admire the nature.
Ethno-tourism. There are several ethno-villages in Kamchatka, where representatives of the native peoples of Kamchatka familiarize guests with the culture of their forefathers. Here you can listen to throat singing, try on ethnic costumes and taste national dishes.
Getting to know Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Don't forget to walk around the center of the port city, learn its history, see the monuments and check out the museums.
Going to the fish market. Seafood and fish can be eaten during the tour, but it's worth visiting the market for the goodies. There are dozens of species of fish, crabs, octopus, caviar and other local delicacies for sale here.
