How tours are organized in Kamchatka in spring
Spring in Kamchatka is short, late and comes unequally soon in different parts of the peninsula. Conventionally, the spring season here is the period from the end of April to June. At this time the daylight hours are already long, the snow melts slowly, and the sun is pleasantly warm and gives a stable tan. Skiers are still skiing in the mountains, and in the forests - lisichitons are already blooming and ramsons are growing. At the same time, there are still few tourists in Kamchatka until July, and the cost of flights to the peninsula is lower. So a spring tour will be cheaper than a summer tour with a similar program.

What to see and do
In spring the main sights of Kamchatka are still accessible. It is impossible to reach by car except for remote points like Kliuchevsky Park and Tolbachik volcano. It is better to postpone multi-day hiking until July. But you can see the nearest volcanoes, valleys and the ocean shore in any season. Besides, the calendar spring is the best season for skiing and other activities related to snow - we have plenty of it until May.
Check-list of spring vacation in Kamchatka:
Meet the volcanoes. You can admire the “ Domestic” giants, Avachinsky and Koryaksky, or the slender cone of Vilyuchinskaya Sopka from the adjoining passes. And if you want to look into the craters and see the live activity of volcanoes, it is worth spending a day on a trip to Mutnovsky volcano or neighboring Gorely.
Walking near the Pacific Ocean. The most attractive views are on the vast Khalaktyrsky Beach and from the top of Mayachny Cape. They can be reached in a couple of hours by a passable car or snowmobile - it all depends on the height of snow cover.
Bathing in hot springs. Kamchatka is famous for its thermal baths - among them there are both wild and well-organized ones. The easiest to reach are Paratunskiye, Malkinskiye, Zelenovskiye, and Nalychevskiye.
Observing wildlife. In spring it is too early to organize a photo hunt for sleepy bears, but it is the right time to get acquainted with sea lions, seals and sea birds. You can find them on the shore of Avacha Bay right within the city limits.

Skiing on snow slopes. In spring, there is still snow in the mountains and the air is already warming up, so you can go skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, sledding without fear of freezing. If you already have experience of downhill skiing on equipped slopes, try going to the wild slopes of volcanoes.
Immersion in Native culture. Kamchatka has several ethno-settlements and camps, such as Kainyran, Children of the North, Pimchakh, and Chau-Chiv. In them, representatives of the peninsula's native peoples - Koryaks, Itelmens, Evenes - familiarize guests with the traditions and life of their ancestors, let them try on reindeer skin costumes, and treat them to national dishes.
Dog sledding. As a rule, sled dog breeding is also revived in the same ethno-settlements. Here you can get acquainted with friendly northern dogs, take a ride in a sled as a passenger or even drive a sled yourself. By the way, it doesn't have to be snowy to do this - with warming weather the usual Kamchatka sledges are simply replaced by sleds on wheels.
Going to a museum. To immerse yourself in the history and culture of the peninsula and understand how Kamchatka developed, take a look at the Museum of Local History - it has an excellent exposition with ancient finds. And you can learn more about volcanoes at the Scientific Museum of Volcanology or in the interactive “Volcanarium”.
Excursion around Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It would be good to spend a day to get acquainted with the urban environment, so that you have time to leisurely explore the historical center and all its significant monuments, admire the embankment, climb to the observation point.
Surfing. Surf schools on Khalaktyrsky beach organize master classes for beginners and work even in winter.

Weather
If we talk about calendar spring, it is cold but sunny in Kamchatka. The spring warmth begins in April, when air temperatures rise above zero during the day. But at this time there is still a lot of snow: drifts can reach 1.5 meters in height. In the forests, it comes down faster and in April you can already find lisichitons - rare plants listed in the Red Book - in bloom.
The main characteristic of the Kamchatka climate - fickleness - also manifests itself in spring. Be prepared for unexpected snowstorms and sharp cold.

So, what are the features of spring travel in Kamchatka?
