We organize a boat trip from June to the beginning of October when it`s warm on the peninsula and everyone may appreciate a natural beauty of this place. Sea and mountains around us, seals and other sea animals are seen on numerous rocks.

A marine excursion to Russkaya bay in Kamchatka

Excursion time lasts one day. We go on a boat trip early morning to see more sea animals. Meeting point of group is the pier of Avachinsky bay. Our journey starts slowly from the gate of the bay to the gulf.

the gate of Avacha bay

Our first stop is well-known tourist attraction - "Three Brothers" rocks. They can also be seen from the shore if you partook in our other excursions. The columns that rise above the smooth sea-surface, yells of gull and other birds fascinate you and create a magic atmosphere. It was not without reason that this place gave birth to many legends of native peoples, you have a chance to listen to one of these stories.

You could spot some birds such as cormorant and auklet flying past the boat and swiftly plunging into water for fishes. Flocks of puffins with the red beaks deserve a particular attention.

Our next stop is a bird`s corner, Starichkov Island which sits on open water. There is a lot of species of birds dwelling on this small territory that has an area of 500 square meters. They created a settler colony in close proximity to their place of feeding. You may spot such birds as guillemot, kittiwake, cormorant, puffins, willock and important specimen the island was named after - murrelet ("Starik" in Russian). It lives in holes dug out in the ground. The eyrie of Steller`s sea eagle is located at one of the cliffs in the area. It is a governor of this place: it keeps order and collect tribute from settlers.

The territory of the island is supplemented with rocky reefs on which seals bask in the sunshine and with sea stacks rising out of the water - Karaulny and Chasovoy. Seals are timid animals in wildlife but there they feel calm and allow tourists to approach them for taking photos in the distance. Disembarkation is allowed only for scientific workers since the island is a sanctuary and a nature monument. We sail around the island and admire a bird`s rookery from the board of our boat. We continue our boat trip. The next stop is Kekurny cape, Russkaya bay.

Tour to Russkaya bay

The interesting story lies behind a patriotic name. This bay sits to the south-west of Avachinsky bay. It had another name up to 1952 and it sounded from the Itelmen language as Ahomten. The whole south-east shore was settled by Itelmen tribes long ago. This fact is confirmed thanks to archeological excavations during which remains of dwellings, bonfire sites and various implements - knives, arrowhead, scraper etc - were found.

The history of bay is rich in various events. For example, there was a reservoir of vessels during World War II. Avachinskay bay was mined and from there the vessels were led to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski with the help of navigation vessel. The bay is enough deep and it excellently protects from any storm. Big vessels may enter there without problem.

Kekurny cape

By the way there had been a frontier post for a long time just there and it was disbanded more recently (in 2011). You may see these places during a boat trip to Russkaya bay. A wonderful lake is located near the bay. Water in it is known for having high level of silver. It is well-know that such water isn`t gone bad for long time, keeps fresh and palatability thus it is highly relevant for long-distance voyage. No wonder there was a water-filled post for the vessels in the past.

Narrow bay is opened before you in all its glory during boat trip and runs deep inland as if it wishes to merge with it together. There you may see how steep slopes of the hills hang over the sea. It is no exaggeration that it`s the most colorful and scenic place of Kamchatka.

orca Kamchatka

We meet another one sea habitant - sea lions on Kekurny cape located at the entrance of water area. There is their area of rookery. The large boars weighting up to one tone always watch over their harem and sometimes they may fight with each other. The little baby animals which already have a weight of 15-20 kilograms at birth, move to and fro close by.

You may see one of the largest sea habitants - whales and orcas - both during boat trip`s way to Russkay bay and in its water area. You may see their triangular fins and white spots from a distance. It is always a great joyous event for tourists to meet them. These giants migrate there to search fishes in which water area is rich on summer. However some orcas dwell there and they are called as "domestic".

Marine travel Kamchatka

At last we reach the last point of our journey. We drop anchor into the water. We have guests from all over the world who come to us not only to enjoy stunning views but also to appreciate advantages of deep-water sea fishing. This entertainment enthralls everyone. While tourists are engaged in preparing tackles and occupied with fishing, a lunch will be cooked!

The additional benefit is a diver on the board who can catch sea urchins from the bottom and treat everyone to this delicacy which is appreciated in many countries. You won`t be hungry because tour program includes a lunch for quests - a soup of fresh caught fish. This tour is suitable for people with all physical level and even for children. You need to take warm clothes, hat and raincoat with you. You need only to memorize everything that you see, enjoy quiet and listen to sea.

See you in our boat trip to Russkaya bay.
